The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a large dog breed originally bred in Southern Africa. [1] The original breed standard was drafted by F.R. Barnes, in Bulawayo , Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe ), in 1922, and approved by the South African Kennel Union in 1927.
Large and giant breeds average 7 puppies per litter but can have a maximum litter size of about 15. [25] In one study, the Rhodesian Ridgeback had the highest average litter size with 8.9 pups per litter while the Pomeranian and Toy Poodle had the lowest with 2.4 pups per litter. [25] The number of puppies also varies with the mother's age.
A Basenji's eyes are typically almond-shaped. Basenjis typically weigh about 9–11 kg (20–24 lb) and stand 41–46 cm (16–18 in) at the shoulder.
