Hex is a British television programme developed by Shine TV and aired on Sky One.The story is set in a remote English boarding school with a mysterious past. Series one explores the supernatural relationship between a fallen angel named Azazeal and a student called Cassie who is also a witch.
Thelma Bates is a fictional character played by Jemima Rooper in Sky One's British horror dramedy series Hex.She appeared in every episode of the programme. After the departure and subsequent replacement of the programme's lead character of Cassie Hughes (Christina Cole), Thelma became the de facto protagonist as she was the only character who continued the series' narrative.
Cole's first lead role was that of Cassie Hughes in Hex. She played the role for the whole of the first season and the first three episodes of the second. In the second episode of Hex, Azazeal sacrifices Cassie Hughes' friend and roommate Thelma Bates, turning her into a ghost and releasing his power. Later in the series, he enters into a sexual relationship with Cassie and Cassie's teacher Jo, eventually turning her to his side.
