PBS News Hour, previously stylized as PBS NewsHour, is the news division of PBS and an American daily evening television news program broadcast on over 350 PBS member stations since October 20, 1975. It airs seven nights a week, and is known for its in-depth coverage of issues and current events.
Evening news programming begins at 6:30pm, 5:30pm, or 3:30pm Eastern Time Zone/Pacific Time Zone, after network affiliates' late local news. On PBS, and cable television, news starts at 6:00 pm, earlier, or later ET/PT.
Amna Nawaz (Urdu: آمنہ نواز) is an American broadcast journalist and a co-anchor of the PBS NewsHour alongside Geoff Bennett. [1] Before joining PBS in April 2018, Nawaz was an anchor and correspondent at ABC News and NBC News. News anchor and journalist John Eric Yang (born February 10, 1958) [ 1 ] is an American news correspondent and commentator who has anchored PBS News Weekend since December 31, 2022. He was previously a special correspondent for the PBS NewsHour and a correspondent for NBC News and ABC News .
The program debuted in 1983, with NBC anchorwoman Jessica Savitch as the show's first host, but Savitch died later after the first-season finale. PBS NewsHour ' s Judy Woodruff took over as host in 1984, and hosted the program for five years, combining her job with a sub-anchor place on The MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour when Jim Lehrer was away.
