In the Shibuya Incident, Yuji encounters the vengeful Death Painting Choso, who leaves him close to death, allowing Jogo to feed him 11 of Sukuna's fingers. Sukuna takes over and wreaks havoc in Shibuya. Yuji feels responsible for the hundreds of thousands of people Sukuna kills and seeks to stop Kenjaku at all costs.
However, Choso uses his blood to form a shield that protects his body from Yuji's Divergent Fist. Choso is about to kill him when suddenly, flashes of memories that never happened flood his mind. In them he sees himself hanging out with Yuji, whom he addresses as his brother. Confused, injured, and spiraling, Choso spares him, wandering away.
He also fights Choso, the Eldest brother of the two Death Paintings, Eso and Kechizu. After the Jujutsu Sorcerers lose the battle and Suguru Geto (actually Kenjaku) unleashes thousands of Cursed Spirits and newly awakened Jujutsu Sorcerers onto the world, Choso tells Yuji that he is his older brother and that Yuji has the blood of a Cursed Spirit.
