The pont Leclerc is a covered bridge in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, Canada. [1] Among the last in Quebec, 34 covered bridges were constructed in Abitibi, and are associated with the colonisation of the region in the early 1900s. [2] Today fewer than half of them are extant. The single-lane bridge is of Lattice truss bridge design. [3]
The Brown truss enjoyed a brief period of favor in the 1860s, and is known to have been used in four covered bridges in Michigan, the Ada Covered Bridge, the Fallasburg Bridge, Whites Bridge and one other. The design did not appear to gain wide acceptance as modern bridges tend to be Howe, Pratt, bowstring or Warren trusses.
