On 3 June 2021 Ebbing Air National Guard Base was chosen as the location to host a multi-national training site for the F-16 Falcon and F-35.
Ebbing Air National Guard Base is an airfield adjacent to the Fort Smith Regional Airport which it shares runways with. It was established in 1953. Since 1953, the Arkansas Air National Guard's 188th Wing (188 WG) has been based at the airfield.
The Tom's Mill Fire was a wildfire that burned in the Ozark–St. Francis National Forest, 3.5 miles north of Lees Chapel, Arkansas in the United States. The fire, which was first reported on November 25, 2017, burned a total of 2,000 acres (8 km 2 ).

Established as Camp Chaffee in 1941, renamed to Fort Chaffee in 1956, it has served as a U.S. Army base, training camp, prisoner-of-war camp , and refugee camp .
