A second common application of non-breaking spaces is in plain text file formats such as SGML, HTML, TeX and LaTeX, whose rendering engines are programmed to treat sequences of whitespace characters (space, newline, tab, form feed, etc.) as if they were a single character (but this behavior can be overridden).
Space (·) each pressing of the space key will be displayed like this. Non-breaking space (°) is a space character that prevents an automatic line break at its position. Pilcrow (¶) is the symbolic representation of paragraphs. Line break (↵) breaks the current line without new paragraph. It puts lines of text close together.

This is unlike the non-breaking space , whose rendering on the page is indistinguishable from a regular space. This can be fixed by using a regular hyphen and making it and its bordering words non-breaking with the {{ nowrap }} template (shortcut {{ nobr }} ), for example, {{ nowrap |I-94}} .
Sometimes a narrow non-breaking space or non-breaking space, respectively, is recommended (as in, for example, IEEE Standards [25] and IEC standards [26]) to avoid the separation of units and values or parts of compounds units, due to automatic line wrap and word wrap.
