The Apollo GT is an Italian-American sports car, initially marketed from 1962 to 1964 by International Motor Cars in Oakland, California. Engineered by Milt Brown and designed by Ron Plescia, it featured handmade Italian bodywork and chassis by Intermeccanica , with a choice between two-seater convertible or fastback styles.
In 1963 Intermeccanica exhibited the Apollo coupe at the Turin Automobile Show. In 1965 the prototype Apollo 2 + 2 was built and exhibited at the New York Automobile Show. The Apollo weighs between 1,100 kg (2,400 lb) and 1,200 kg (2,600 lb) (depending on options), and is fully street-legal. It is a mid-engine, rear wheel drive two-seater constructed on a tubular chromoly frame, with fiberglass or optional carbon fibre body panels.
A number of different Apollo wings can be fitted to the basic carriage, including the C-15, C-15TN, C-17 and CXMD. Te Racer GT is the only aircraft built by Apollo that is approved to be fitted with floats. Optional equipment includes instructor training pedals, a hang glider towing system, ballistic parachute, windshield and main wheel brakes .
