The H&R Handy-Gun is a single-shot, breech-loading handgun produced from 1921 to 1934 by Harrington & Richardson. Two principal variants were produced: one with a rifled barrel and one smooth-bore. [1] [2] The rifled-barrel variant was produced from 1930 to 1934 and it featured a 12 1 ⁄ 4" barrel.
In 1875 Harrington and another former Wesson employee, William Augustus Richardson, formed the new Harrington & Richardson Company. In 1888 the firm was incorporated as The Harrington & Richardson Arms Company. Their original capital investment was $75,000. Harrington was president, Richardson was treasurer, and George F. Brooks was secretary.
Markings on the barrel were pretty much consistent, except when the .22 WRF chambering was introduced - the right side was stamped either: ".22 LONG RIFLE CTG" or ".22 W.R.F. CTG".
