After an empirical investigation of the perceived effects of poetry the relationship between rhyme pattern and Gestalt qualities was investigated by manipulating the rhyme scheme of a four-line stanza. It was assumed that the perceived effects of poetry are a function of the degree of perceptual organization that can be found in the poetic text.

A diamante poem is a poem that makes the shape of a diamond. The poem can be used in two ways, either comparing and contrasting two different subjects, or naming synonyms at the beginning of the poem and then antonyms for the second half for a subject.
