Revelation 11 is the eleventh chapter of the Book of Revelation or the Revelation of Jesus Christ shown to John in the New Testament of the Christian Bible.The book is traditionally attributed to John the Apostle, [1] [2] but the precise identity of the author remains a point of academic debate. [3]
John is given a measuring rod to measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship in it. It is brought to John's attention that the nations will tread under foot, the holy city of the temple, for forty-two months (1,260 days). During that same time, two witnesses, dressed in sackcloth, will prophesy and this torments the nations.
A measuring rod is a tool used to physically measure lengths and survey areas of various sizes. Most measuring rods are round or square sectioned; however, they can also be flat boards. Some have markings at regular intervals. It is likely that the measuring rod was used before the line, chain or steel tapes used in modern measurement. [1]
On Folio 27v of the Bamberg Apocalypse is the first full depiction of Revelation 11 with a narrative divided into three key scenes. The figures on the top preach as the beast attacks two witness that then get resurrected on the bottom right register. The Bamberg Apocalyse is the only extant illustrated Ottonian Apocalypse manuscript. [3]

The seven trumpets are sounded by seven angels and the events that follow are described in detail from Revelation Chapters 8 to 11. According to Revelation 8:1–2 the angels sound these trumpets after the breaking of the seventh seal. The two witnesses are the true prophetic witness in Revelation (the church), and they serve as the counterpart to the false prophetic witness, the beast from the land, who has two horns like a lamb (Revelation 13:11; cf.16:13; 19:20; 20:10). Similar to this type of proposal is to see the witnesses as general symbols of Christian testimony.
