Flip-Flop is the fourth and final studio album by the American band Guadalcanal Diary. [1] [2] It was released in 1989 on Elektra Records. [3] The band supported the album with a North American tour. [4] "Always Saturday", for which a video was shot, was released as a single. [5]
Guadalcanal Diary is a memoir written by war correspondent Richard Tregaskis and originally published by Random House on January 1, 1943. [2] The book recounts the author's time with the United States Marine Corps on Guadalcanal in the early stages of the pivotal months-long battle there starting in 1942. [ 3 ]
He used notes written during the campaign to produce a novel entitled Guadalcanal Diary, which became an instant success. The book was made into a film by 20th Century Fox, released in late 1943, [11] while Richard transferred from the Pacific to Europe, covering the invasions of both Sicily and the Italian mainland.
