Alan Longmuir, a founding member of the Bay City Rollers, died early Monday after a brief illness, the BBC reports.
Alan Longmuir had left the group by early 1976, due to both the pressures of the band's success and feeling discomfort at being a member of a teen band whilst in his late twenties. [18] He was replaced for seven months by 17-year-old Ian Mitchell from Northern Ireland; he was the first band member born outside Edinburgh. [ 18 ]
Longmuir was born to Duncan and Georgina Longmuir. [4] His father, Duncan was an undertaker. [4] Derek and his older brother Alan Longmuir both went to Tynecastle High School, and left school at age fifteen [3] in 1966. [4]
