[2] The term derives from the ancient Greek ἀμφιθέατρον ( amphitheatron ), [ 3 ] from ἀμφί ( amphi ), meaning "on both sides" or "around" [ 4 ] and θέατρον ( théātron ), meaning "place for viewing".
