After completion of the works, which cost €3.2 million and were financed by Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Mayo County Council, the South West Mayo Development Company and Fáilte Ireland, the building was officially re-opened by the Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring, in June 2015. Louisburgh is located on the R335 regional road. It can be approached from Westport (13 miles) or from Leenane (19 miles). The former approach passes along Clew Bay on one side and Croagh Patrick on the other, while the latter passes through lake and mountain scenery past Doo Lough and Delphi Lodge.
