South Hadley (/ ˈ h æ d l iː / ⓘ, HAD-lee) [1] is a town in Hampshire County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 18,150 at the 2020 census . [ 2 ] It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area .
A horsecar on the South Hadley Falls line, c. 1890; horsecars would be used by the company from 1884 to 1891, when they were supplanted by electric streetcars. The Holyoke Street Railway Company held its first meeting on February 12, 1884, [5] with a charter granted by the Office of Secretary of the Commonwealth Henry B. Pierce on June 11, 1884. [15]
