Man's Search for Meaning is a 1946 book by Viktor Frankl chronicling his experiences as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps during World War II, and describing his psychotherapeutic method, which involved identifying a purpose to each person's life through one of three ways: the completion of tasks, caring for another person, or finding meaning by facing suffering with dignity.
The English translation of Man's Search for Meaning was published in 1959, and became an international bestseller. The original publication date for both the first writing, titled From Death Camp to Existentialism, and the revised and expanded version titled Man's Search for Meaning was 1959 by Beacon Press. The date is clearly stated in the Pocket Book edition that was published in 1963, which I have in my library.
