The Historic Michigan Boulevard District is a historic district in the Loop community area of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, United States encompassing Michigan Avenue between 11th (1100 south in the street numbering system) or Roosevelt Road (1200 south), depending on the source, and Randolph Streets (150 north) and named after the nearby Lake Michigan.
On June 9, 1940, service in Indiana was converted to buses and removed. That same day, it was rerouted in Illinois, replacing the streetcar portion of Route 32, and the route was renamed 30 South Chicago-Ewing. Route was converted to buses on June 30, 1947, and 30 South Chicago-Ewing merged with 25 Hegewisch to form the 30 South Chicago in 1952.
The Loop Shuttle was quietly discontinued on September 30, 1977 as a cost-cutting measure. [4] After the Loop Shuttle's discontinuation, the Evanston Express remained the only route to run clockwise around the Loop. Full time service around the inner loop was restored with the introduction of the Orange Line in 1993 and later the Pink Line in 2006.

The hotel's 3,000 guest rooms were rebuilt into 1,544 larger and more elegant rooms; 600 were converted to double-sized rooms with two adjoining bathrooms. The renovated hotel helped to sustain a revival period in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood. The newly renamed Chicago Hilton and Towers reopened on October 1, 1985. [11]
