In 1951, the City of Danville the Schoolfield area but the elementary school continued operating for decades by the Danville Public Schools. By the mid-1990s, the school was moved to a new building and the complex served as the Danville City Schools' Central Office Annex.
The non-profit Schoolfield Preservation Foundation purchased the building in 2007, and has since been renamed to Schoolfield Presents. [6] The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. [1] As part of the Caesars Virginia casino redevelopment, part of the building will be turned into a coworking space.
