The Ford Modular engine is Ford Motor Company's overhead camshaft (OHC) V8 and V10 gasoline-powered small block engine family. Introduced in 1990, the engine family received its “modular” designation by Ford for its new approach to the setup of tooling and casting stations in the Windsor and Romeo engine manufacturing plants.

A 289 Ford small-block V8 in a 1965 Ford Mustang. The 289 cu in (4.7 L) was introduced in April 1963. Called the Challenger V8, [1] it replaced the 260 as the base V8 for full-sized Fords. Bore was expanded to 4.00 in (101.6 mm), becoming the standard for most small block Ford engines. Stroke remained at 2.87 inches. Weight was 506 lb (230 kg).
