The Dearborn Inn, A Marriott Hotel is a historic hotel in the suburban city of Dearborn, Michigan in Metro Detroit. It opened in 1931 and closed in February 2023 for renovations. [2] It was conceived by Henry Ford, who saw a need for food and accommodations for visitors flying into the nearby Ford Airport, making it one of the first airport hotels.
The hotel was built by the Del E. Webb Corporation. [4] [5] The hotel is adjacent to Fairlane Town Center shopping mall, Ford World Headquarters, and The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. The hotel was renamed Adoba Hotel Dearborn / Detroit on November 1, 2012, and the Royal Dearborn Hotel and Convention Center in 2015.
The Dearborn Inn and Colonial Homes were built by Ford as an airport hotel, and the Ford Valve Plant in Northville was an experimental factory. Perhaps most significantly, the Henry Ford Square House was built by Henry Ford himself soon after his marriage to Clara Ford, and well before his ascent to being the richest man in the world.
