On 23 August 2013, a Eurocopter AS332 Super Puma helicopter belonging to CHC Scotia crashed into the sea 2 nautical miles (3.7 km; 2.3 mi) from Sumburgh in the Shetland Islands, Scotland, while en route from the Borgsten Dolphin drilling rig.

Bristow Helicopters Flight 56C was a helicopter flight that flew between Aberdeen and the Brae Alpha oil rig in the North Sea. On 19 January 1995, the AS 332L Super Puma helicopter operating the route, registered G-TIGK and named Cullen, was struck by lightning.
The wreckage of the Super Puma was located on the sea bed at a depth of 100 m (330 ft) by the Bibby Topaz. The remaining eight bodies were recovered from inside the fuselage. The combined FDR/CVR was recovered and sent to the Farnborough headquarters of the AAIB for analysis, [1] [13] as was all the wreckage. [14]
