The New Theatre is a historic theatre building at 11 North 10th Street in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The Beaux Arts building was built in 1911, and was supposedly modeled on the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City .
The performing arts theater is home to the Fort Smith Symphony and has seating for 1,331 people. Kay Rodgers Park - site of the Expo Center, with 24,000 square feet (2,200 m 2 ) of meeting and exhibition space, and the Harper Arena, which is a covered open-air stadium that can seat 7,000 to 14,000 attendees for a variety of events.
The New Theater (Sparks Theater) located at Garrison Ave. and North 11th Streets was constructed in 1911 by George Sparks who was then president of First National Bank of Fort Smith. Sparks was so inspired by the architecture of the New Amsterdam Theater that he hired the same architect to build his theater in Fort Smith.
The Fort Smith Little Theater 2022 seasonal performance will be Dec. 8 to Dec. 10 with "Old Time Radio Christmas II."
