Overall I think the shorter format is better - though it requires that a user know the order of the parameters rather than being able to set them in any order. For 'QIF' a '|test=0' condition resolved to 'test exists' and was therefor 'TRUE'. For '#if:' a condition of '0' resolves to 'FALSE'. Again, I think this is an improvement overall.
