  2. If you had to live on a bike the rest of your life?

There are of course other brands that make good bikes but Surly is so popular because of the versatility and their relatively low price points. Salsa Fargo is a good bike but starts around $2k. The salsa Blackbrow mid tail looks good, but it starts at almost $3k.

May 19, 2018. #1. I recently sold my Bike Friday folder and bought a Surly Troll. I realized that I enjoy being on the back roads way more than fighting with automobile traffic/exhaust/noise, and the Troll is built for “gravel touring”. With fatter tires (2.5” on mine, but you can go fatter), it plows through the gravel with ease, handles ...

Yo, for (less than) a G bar you could fully tweak and customize a 26" retro mtb from the 80s-90s. Those bikes are great basis' for builds, strong tubing, a multitude of parts to fit your bike of choice versus new, finnicky compatible parts. They can come in wavy ass color ways and, the bike would be damn unique.

Bikes that are poor choices for touring include mountain bikes, trikes, fixed gear bicycles, and any other slow moving bike that will make it difficult to cover as many miles a day as possible. Mountain bikes have fat tires and often front/rear shocks that are designed for going over extreme terrain, but they are slow, and usually lack a place ...

    squattheplanet.com/threads/has-anyone-taken-a-large-dog...

Agreed. E-bikes are fine for getting more people out of cars and on 2 wheels. But riding a real bike feels like having a superpower that makes you so much faster and farther using your own muscle power. Closest thing to flying in my book. It makes sense that the Wright Brothers were bicycle mechanics before they started trying build flying bikes...

I've been thinking of hitting the road again, an I have a little cash, but I don't think I want to buy a vehicle, I do but I don't. Anyways my question is what kind of Bicycle do y'all suggest or recommend I buy if I decide to tour on it.

  11. Folding BIke Touring | Squat the Planet

Anyway, glad to see someone else is stoked on folders. The big problem I did find with them though was riding with other people. I couldn't quite keep up with regular cyclists, and felt held back by hitchhiking partners who did not have bikes or longboards. If you feel like doing some traveling with a fellow folding tourer, I'm definitely game.
