Flower Mound is an incorporated town [Note 1] located in Denton and Tarrant counties in the U.S. state of Texas. [4] [5] Located northwest of Dallas and northeast of Fort Worth adjacent to Grapevine Lake, the town derives its name from a prominent 12.5-acre (5.1 ha) mound located in the center of town.

The site was originally owned by John Neely Bryan. [1] In the 1880s, Maxime Guillot operated a wagon shop on the property. In 1894, the Rock Island Plow Company bought the land, and four years later constructed a five-story building for its Texas division, the Southern Rock Island Plow Company. [1]
In 2000, the first "Mound Showdown" game was played between Marcus and neighboring Flower Mound High School. [7] The Marcus Marauders compete in the following UIL sports: Football, Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Wrestling, Cheerleading, Track & Field, Cross Country, Golf, Swim, Dive, Tennis, and Volleyball.

Texas' 26th congressional district of the United States House of Representatives includes rural Cooke County to the north and some of Wise County to the West and includes parts of Denton County, including Flower Mound, Lewisville and parts of Corinth, Carrollton, Little Elm and The Colony. [5] The current Representative is Brandon Gill.
The largest business in the town is the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, which maintains a printing plant within city limits. The tax rate in Edgecliff Village is lower than in surrounding communities; however, there are few amenities (that is, no public library or park development).
