The weather in Khao Lak can be separated into two distinct seasons. The dry season between November and April, and the monsoon season from May to October. Khao Lak is mostly warm all year round with temperatures averaging around 28 °C to 32 °C. In the dry season it is not uncommon for Khao Lak to go without rain for around six weeks at a time.

Khao Lak–Lam Ru National Park is 115 kilometres (71 mi) north of Phuket city and 30 km (19 mi) south of Takua Pa. The coastal area here is typically referred to as "Khao Lak". The park is just off Route 4 (Phetkasem Road). Khao Lak–Lam Ru park covers parts of four districts: Kapong, Mueang Phang Nga, Takua Pa, and Thai Mueang. [1]
