The radial tire was designed by an advertising employee in his company. Over subsequent decades, Goodrich Company chemists invented plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in 1926, synthesized rubber in 1937 and built spacesuits for NASA astronauts in the 1960s.
The Goodyear Polyglas tire was a bias-belted tire announced in 1967 by Goodyear. "Polyglas" was a registered trademark. [2] The tire combined some characteristics of both bias-ply and radial-ply tires. They had a wider tread than most other tires on the market then and used fiberglass belts.
The Battery Tender Global Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires was started in 2003. It was first split into a Pacific Tour and an Atlantic Tour. Nowadays it runs an MX-5 Cup and a Skip Barber Challenge. In 2017, the series moved to INDYCAR sanctioning and nowadays is under IMSA/NASCAR sanctioning.
