Kamehameha Schools is a private organization to which students apply for admission. At the Kapālama campus, the process is highly selective. Acceptance rates range from approximately 6.7% to 14.7% depending on the grade for which a student applies.
Kamehameha Schools offers many extra-curricular activities and sports. The marching band appeared in the 2008 Tournament of Roses Parade. [4] The school offers classes in Hawaiian language in middle and high school as well as Japanese and Spanish in high school.

The Royal School is a historic school founded in 1839 in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, as the Chiefs' Children's School. The school was renamed as the Royal School in 1846. After the boarding closed in 1850, it became a day school for children. It later became a public elementary school, and moved to its present campus in 1967.
The 2,400 acres (9.7 km 2) of the resort are owned by a subsidiary of Kamehameha Schools [8] which sponsors cultural events at the facilities. There is a small boat ramp for public use and commercial tour companies such as Dolphin Discoveries [ 9 ] to Kealakekua Bay , and the Keauhou Canoe Club for canoe races. [ 10 ]
Gladys Kamakakuokalani ʻAinoa Brandt (August 20, 1906 – January 15, 2003) was an American Hawaiian educator and civic leader in Hawaii.She served as a principal at Kamehameha Schools and helped found the University of Hawaii's Hawaiian Studies Center, leading to a revival of interest in native Hawaiian culture.
