Walmart’s popular grocery service is changing its policy on product substitutions for online pickup and delivery orders — by passing the savings on to itself and the costs on to customers.
In December 2018, DoorDash overtook Uber Eats to hold the second position in total US food delivery sales, behind GrubHub. [17] By March 2019, it had exceeded GrubHub in total sales, at 27.6% of the on-demand delivery market. [18] By early 2019, DoorDash was the largest food delivery provider in the U.S., as measured by consumer spending. [19]
TIME has reached out to Walmart for comment and further information. The news comes after Walmart made a similar change to three New Mexico stores last year, removing all self-checkout machines.
