Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB, 日本野球機構, Nippon Yakyū Kikō) is a professional baseball league and the highest level of baseball in Japan. Locally, it is often called Puro Yakyū ( プロ野球 , Puroyagu ) , meaning simply Professional Baseball ; outside of Japan, NPB is often referred to as "Japanese baseball".

The 2024 Nippon Professional Baseball season was the 75th season of professional baseball in Japan since Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) was reorganized in 1950 and the 90th anniversary of the founding of professional baseball in Japan. There were 12 NPB teams, split evenly between the Central League and Pacific League.

The Pacific League (PL) first experimented with a type of end-of-season playoff system during the 1952 season.After the 108-game season had concluded, the teams with the four best winning percentages qualified to play in a twelve-game round robin stage in which each team would play three games against the other three qualifying teams.
The Nippon Professional Baseball All-Star Game is an annual baseball series of All-Star Games (in most years, two games are played, but three such games can and have been played as well) between players from the Central League and the Pacific League, currently selected by a combination of fans, players, coaches, and managers.
