This List of National Fish Hatcheries in the United States includes the 70 National Fish Hatcheries, seven Fish Technology Centers and nine Fish Health Centers that are administered as components of the National Fish Hatchery System by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The Bayfield Fish Hatchery is a historic fish hatchery in Salmo, Wisconsin, located 2.3 miles (3.7 km) southwest of Bayfield. The C.D. "Buzz" Besadny Anadromous Fish Facility is a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources egg collection station near the city of Kewaunee. Trout and salmon migrating from Lake Michigan through the Kewaunee River are led by flowing water in a fish ladder to collection ponds.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department acquired the reservoir in 1952 to provide a refuge for migratory waterfowl, a public fishing lake and a fish hatchery. It opened in 1955 as the Sheldon Wildlife Management Area. The hatchery closed in 1975, and the land began to revert naturally to forest, ponds and marshes.
