The Bible Story is a ten-volume series of hardcover children's story books written by Arthur S. Maxwell [1] based on the King James and Revised Standard versions of the Christian Bible. The books, published from 1953 to 1957, retell most of the narratives of the Bible in 411 stories. [ 2 ]

At age 16, Maxwell worked for a period as a literature evangelist, before becoming a copyreader at Stanborough Press. On May 3, 1917, Maxwell married Rachel Elizabeth Joyce, a proofreader at the office, with whom he had four sons and two daughters. [1] Maxwell began writing articles for British Adventist journal The Present Truth.

Leslie Earl Maxwell (July 2, 1895 – February 4, 1984), was an American-born Canadian educator and minister. [1] Maxwell was born in Salina, Kansas in 1895 to Edwin Hugh and Marion (née Anderson) Maxwell. [2] [3] He was a graduate of the Midland Bible Institute, a short lived school of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Kansas City.
