Yesterday I decided to reinstall macOS Sierra on my iMac. I followed these steps: I used Command-R to boot into macOS Recovery. I selected Disk Utility from the macOS Utilities window. I opted to erase the HD with a 2 pass secure erase. This was successful. I quit Disk Utility. I selected Reinstall macOS from the macOS Utilities window.
When finished, eject the volume labeled Install macOS High Sierra. Create the file Install macOS High\ Sierra.iso from the file Install macOS High Sierra.sparseimage by entering the commands shown below. cd ~/Desktop hdiutil makehybrid -o Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.iso Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.sparseimage -hfs -iso -hide-iso '*'

Apple yesterday released macOS Sierra for public. The update weighs ~5 GB. I have two Macs with me: one is my personal, the other my office has given. Instead of downloading the installer twice (10 GB), It would be great to download the copy and once use it to upgrade multiple devices (iMacs/Mac minis).
I have previously upgraded my personal computer as follows: El Capitan -> Sierra -> High Sierra. Knowing that, I should be able to see the previous version in the App Store as outlined in this answer. However, I don't see Sierra in my Purchased tab in the App Store: Was Sierra 10.12 completely removed from the store (including previous purchases)?
On an Intel-based Mac that previously used macOS Sierra 10.12.4 or later, you can use Shift-Option-Command-R at startup to install the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available. If the above still fails to resolve the issue, you may try creating a bootable installer for macOS using another Mac if necessary.
If you have "Install macOS Sierra.dmg", Install it and you will get the app "Install mac OS Sierra.app" installed on your applications folder. So to be clear, installing "Install macOS Sierra.dmg" will not install Sierra OS on the current computer but only puts the "Install macOS Sierra" app inside the applications folder. This way you get the app.
