Welcome to Intermediate District 287 We serve the unique learners of 12 member school districts in the West Metro. Our trauma-responsive and healing-centered schools support the academic, emotional, and behavioral needs of students to thrive in school and life.
Our middle school programs serve students in grades 6-8. Just like other middle school experiences, students rotate through classes to gain core content areas like reading and math. They gain the academic and emotional skills to prepare them for returning to middle school in their home school district.
Intermediate District 287 serves students in grades K-12, as well as transition age students (18-22 years old), who live in our 12 member school districts located in the West Metro area. We provide an array of services and customized programming to meet the needs of students who receive special education.

Our member school districts have trusted us for more than 50 years to provide specialized student services that help all students succeed in school and beyond. At District 287, we develop programs and services based on the specific requests and needs of each school district and its students.
The Executive Leadership Team (EL) provides support for critical academic and operational functions within the school district. The primary objective of the team is to establish and maintain a cohesive, collaborative, and aligned educational system.
District 287 proudly serves the special education, career & technical education, online education, and alternative learning needs of 12 member districts. We collaborate with Hennepin Technical College, where some academic programs are located, as well as operating programs in four sites throughout the west metro area.
