It is 30 km (19 mi) north of Brisbane, and lies adjacent to Lake Kurwongbah. The circuit was known as the spiritual home of Queensland motorsport and was built by volunteers and borrowed machinery in the 1960s. The 2.410 km (1.498 mi) circuit opened on 19 March 1961 and was closed in mid-2001.
1972: David Pearson took the second of his record nine Michigan wins, dominating in the Wood Brothers Mercury; the win was the third for the Woods in the Michigan 400's first four runnings. It was the final season the track was operated under the aegis of the defunct empire of Larry Lopatin , as Roger Penske would purchase the facility in 1973.
From 1989 to 1999 Lakeside operated as a half-mile asphalt track. In 2000, it was again under new management, which converted the speedway to a high-banked 4/10-mile dirt track. [ 1 ] Flooding is an ongoing concern at the facility due to its close proximity to the Missouri River .

Mecosta is a village in Mecosta County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 386 at the 2020 census, [2] down from 457 in 2010. The village is within Morton Township. Mecosta Township, which is also in Mecosta County, is located several miles to the west.
Big Rapids, the Mecosta county seat, is 4 miles (6 km) north of Mecosta Township's northern border. According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 35.9 square miles (93 km 2 ), of which 34.0 square miles (88 km 2 ) are land and 1.9 square miles (4.9 km 2 ), or 5.33%, are water. [ 1 ]
