We poured a cement floor for 3/4 of the building and put plumbing in under the floor. We have a sink in the barn. I think the floor cost us around $10 - $12,000 total. Don't forget the foundation pad and site prep. I honestly can't remember what the of the site prep cost. Our building is not a morton but another brand that is similar called Astro.
Maybe I can help you with your Morton woes. And some tips to drive the cost down on building a new morton. Their walkdoors are outrageous, 1200 dollars for a door come on now. And they mark up all subcontracts 17-20%.so for a little more effort hire morton and be your own job coordinator. It could save you thousands.
I am looking into having a 30' X 50' pole barn erected. I have gotten a quote from morton, with a 6' porch along the front side, 10' x 12' door, windows and walk in door, fully insulated and metal finished interior on a 4" slab, 44 and change. This is the building I want, but was hoping for...
Farm is not in incorporated area, so none of the code requirements we experience some years back. I know their designs are not the same, and I believe Mortonç—´ metal is much thicker gauge. Home will likely be around 3000 sq ft, single story, as simple roof design as possible, and likely to do a detached garage.
My son works for a large pork processing outfit in the Oklahoma Panhandle. They use a lot of Morton buildings on their farms. I had an all metal pole barn built on my place last June (24x42 ft, 12 ft walls, two 10'x10' overhead doors, one 36" W man door, 1 window, eave vent).Cost: $16,200. The...
I built a 40 X 60 US Steel quanset hut (never again) on concrete and I believe I have around $25K in it. My neighbor has a shed built by Barn Builders out of Arkansas, it's 30 X 50 and was under $6k erected. Not close in the quality but much less expensive. I think that Morton is normally 10-15K higher than other buildings.
I still think that 2k for labor seems a bit steep for the small amount of work. One of the ads in the paper I seen for buildings had a 24x32 kit for $5500. And $7500 if they build. Just dont seem to make sense that a 12x24 leanto re-using an existing wall, would cost as much in labor as a building about 3 times bigger:confused2:
I have had a 36 x 48 Morton building with two large sliding doors for 36 years. I have had no door issues. I keep the doors either full open, 1/2 open, or closed. There is an over center latch at each position. The larger door slides over a center of opening in ground support at the middle bottom of the door.
I'm not surprised Morton wouldn't be interested in the project. They build pole buildings, they don't paint them. Paint is the one thing that people try to save money on when in fact it's the second more important component to a successful paint job. The most important part is the prep.
Price varies on breed and how much money you have invested into them. If you are trying to turn a profit by hatching or raising chicks to point of lay pullets they will be more expensive than say someone who buys 4 month old pullets and turns around and sells them.
