The 2023–24 season was Morecambe's 100th season since formation, their 17th consecutive season in the Football League, and their first season back in League Two, the fourth tier of English football. Football in the town dates back to the turn of the 20th century; however, it was not until 7 May 1920 that Morecambe FC was formed after a meeting at the local West View Hotel. The club then took its place in the Lancashire Combination League for the 1920–21 season. At the end of the first season the club moved grounds to Roseberry Park.
