Watson Park Historic District, also known as Watson Road Historic District and Watson McCord Neighborhood, is a national historic district located at Indianapolis, Indiana. The district encompasses 402 contributing buildings and 4 contributing sites in a predominantly residential section of Indianapolis.
In 1970, the governments of Indianapolis and Marion County consolidated, expanding the city from 82 square miles (210 km 2) [3] to more than 360 square miles (930 km 2) overnight. As a result, Indianapolis has a unique urban-to-rural transect, ranging from dense urban neighborhoods, to suburban tract housing subdivisions, to rural villages. [4]
In its first 40 years, Indianapolis did not see much need for organized park land because the pastures and other open areas in and near the still small town were easily accessible by the inhabitants. As the city gained population during and after the Civil War , the desire for parks grew.
Oldfields, also known as Lilly House and Gardens, is a 26-acre (11 ha) historic estate and house museum at Newfields in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. Flanner House Homes is a national historic district located at Indianapolis, Indiana. The district encompasses 180 contributing buildings in the Project Area "A" (Indianapolis Redevelopment Commission) of Indianapolis. It was developed between about 1950 and 1959, and includes single family and duplex dwellings for African-American families.

Location Description ARTSPARK: 2005 9.5 acres (3.8 ha) The sculpture park is situated along the south bank of the White River and immediately west of the Monon Trail. Home to 27 pieces of artwork, it is owned and maintained by the Indianapolis Art Center. Admission to the park is free.
In 2001, city efforts to redevelop the area into a mixed-income residential community began. In 2003, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded Indianapolis with a Homeownership Zone Award for the way the city used a $4 million HUD grant to stimulate other public and private investment in the Fall Creek Place redevelopment.
