Urdaneta City University (UCU) is a public university located in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, Philippines. It was founded in 1966 by Dr. Pedro T. Orata as the Urdaneta Community College (UCC). The school is considered to be one of the first community colleges in the Philippines.
The Association of Local Colleges and Universities or simply ALCU is composed of forty (40) local colleges and universities of the Philippines. [1] ALCU is working closely with the Senate Committee on Education, which is headed by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, in legislations that benefit existing local colleges and universities.

Pedro Tamesis Orata (27 February 1899 – 13 July 1989) was a Filipino educator known as the Father of Barrio High Schools. He is also the founder of the Urdaneta Community College (now Urdaneta City University), the country's first community college, [1] and a recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1971.
Pangasinan State University Urdaneta originated as a geographic satellite of PSU Asingan. The project to create a satellite campus in Urdaneta was inspired from the ideas of Rodolfo V. Asanion, who was then Dean of the Asingan Campus and later became the University President. It became a separate College of Engineering on August 1, 1989.
This is similar to the more popular Common Application, the Universal College Application's main competitor. Most of the schools participating in the Universal College Application also accept the Common Application.
