A mini PC (or miniature PC, nettop, or Smart Micro PC) is a small-sized, inexpensive, low-power, [citation needed] legacy-free desktop computer designed for basic tasks such as web browsing, accessing web-based applications, document processing, and audio/video playback. [1] [2] [3] The word nettop is a portmanteau of network and desktop.
There are a number of other companies (AMD, Microchip, Altera, etc.) making specialized chipsets as part of other ICs, and they are not often found in PC hardware (laptop, desktop or server). There are also a number of now defunct companies (like 3com, DEC, SGI) that produced network related chipsets for us in general computers.

A common category of industrial PC is the 19-inch rackmount form factor. Industrial PCs typically cost considerably more than comparable office style computers with similar performance. Single-board computers and back planes are used primarily in industrial PC systems. However, the majority of industrial PCs are manufactured with COTS motherboards.
A fanless CPU cooler based on heat pipe technology. A quiet, silent or fanless PC is a personal computer that makes very little or no noise.Common uses for quiet PCs include video editing, sound mixing and home theater PCs, but noise reduction techniques can also be used to greatly reduce the noise from servers.
The change prevents the chip from being recognised by drivers of any OS, effectively making them inoperable unless the product ID is changed back. [14] The behaviour was supported by a notice in the drivers' end user license agreement , which warned that use of the drivers with non-genuine FTDI products would "irretrievably damage" them. [ 14 ]
On 29 August 2008, VIA announced that they would release official 2D accelerated Linux drivers for their chipsets, and would also release 3D accelerated drivers. [ 6 ] In July 2008, VIA Labs, Inc. (VLI) was founded as a wholly-owned subsidiary of VIA Technologies Inc. (VIA) to develop and market integrated circuits primarily for USB 3.0.
A CPU chip is designed for portable computers to run fanless, under 10 to 15W, which is cool enough without a fan. [1] It is typically housed in a smaller chip package, but more importantly, in order to run cooler, it uses lower voltages than its desktop counterpart and has more sleep mode capability. A mobile processor can be throttled down to ...
