Arteaga (Spanish pronunciation: [aɾteˈaɣa] ⓘ) is a town that is part of the Saltillo metropolitan area located in the Mexican state of Coahuila. It is considered a Pueblo Mágico . It serves as the administrative centre for the surrounding municipality of the same name .
Arteaga is one of the 38 municipalities of Coahuila, in north-eastern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Arteaga. The municipality covers an area of 1818.6 km 2. As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 19,622. [1]

Its altitude is 3,575 meters above sea level, [2] it is the third highest mountain in Coahuila, after Cerro de la Viga and Sierra de la Marta. [3] The ridge is approximately 22 km long with an east–west orientation, similar to others in the area. In May 1975 and in May 1998, wildfires damaged a large portion of the mountain. [4]
