Karibib Air Force Base (ICAO: FYKA) is an air base near the central Namibian town of Karibib. Since 2016, the headquarters of the Namibian Air Force are located here. Air Force Command had previously been at the Grootfontein Air Force Base .

The Grootfontein Air Force Base (IATA: GFY, ICAO: FYGF) is an air base of the Namibian Air Force in Grootfontein, a town in the Otjozondjupa Region of Namibia. The air base is about 4 km (2 mi) south of the center of Grootfontein. [4] It was formerly an air base for the South African Air Force.
The base was originally constructed by the South African Defence Force and used by the South African Marine Corps. It was abandoned in 1989 during South Africa's withdrawal from Namibia. After Namibia's independence it was used as a secondary school. [1]

The main roles of the Namibian Defence Force are to ensure the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country by guarding against external aggression, both conventional and unconventional; prevent violation of Namibia's territorial integrity; and provide assistance to civil authorities in guarding and protecting government buildings and key installations as provided in the Defence Act.
