The battle on King Kai's planet begins with the Z-Fighters against the Ginyu Force and it seems that our heroes' training is paying off. Piccolo does his best for Goku to complete the Spirit Bomb, but it becomes obvious that Frieza will eventually win the battle. At the last moment, the Spirit Bomb is completed, and Goku hurls it at Frieza.
Goku fights Frieza first and quickly gains the advantage but the latter deduces that he is holding back, so the two foes agree to fight at full power. Goku transforms into a new godly Super Saiyan form with a glowing blue hair and aura (later dubbed Super Saiyan Blue) and Frieza assumes his new gold-plated form, which he dubs Golden Frieza.
Frieza then tries to kill Goku with a barrage of Death Beams, though Goku is able to easily deflect them all. Frieza finds Goku's appearance very surprisingly familiar, disturbing him. When Vegeta mocks Frieza, saying that Goku is the "real" Super Saiyan, the tyrant fires his Death Beam through Vegeta's heart, giving him just seconds to live.
Unable to match Frieza's raw power, Goku manages to withstand and dodge Frieza's attacks. Goku and Vegeta notice that Frieza is progressively losing stamina and that his power level is dropping. Frieza himself fails to notice this. Vegeta urges Goku to quickly finish Frieza off before he has a chance to recover, or he will step up and do so ...
King Kai watches over the north. Above these four is the Grand Kai. Goku and King Kai go to the Grand Kai's planet, and upon arrival, they learn that Cell, Frieza, King Cold, and the four deceased members of the Ginyu Force are causing trouble in hell. Goku and Pikkon, a warrior from the west quadrant, are dispatched to deal with it.
