A few weeks later, I get a pop up asking for my information (clearly malware because I didn't have a password for that website). As I've stated previously, Optifine was the only thing that I downloaded from sources besides the official store. I have never gotten these pop-ups before downloading Optifine or after deleting it.
Optifine gave me a Trojan virus. Went to the official optifine site. Clicked the download button. It took me to some sketchy ad site thing. I clicked off of it because it didn’t seem safe at all. Because the most recent version of optifine available is for 47.1.43 and that's a review version, so no you cannot use optifine and forge for any version of forge after 47.1.43 and even if you do downgrade your forge to accommodate, some 1.20.1 mods are incompatible with it, i found that out trying forge 47.0.35 most good 1.20.1 mods like aether and twilight forest need 47.1 or higher to work ...
