Eola ISD consolidated into Eden ISD to form the Eden CISD in April 1983 in spite of the communities' 24 miles (39 km) distance. Eola ISD property was then sold off and the revenue was used to cover costs of transferring equipment to Eden. [2] This caused overcrowding and resulted in the new district buying a new building using surplus cash. [2]
The Eden Independent School District was established in 1920, [1] and electricity arrived in Eden in 1925. [8] Eden became a trading center for mohair and wool after 1925, as sheep ranching in the area increased. Local ranchers also began raising cattle and goats, as well as polo ponies for eastern markets. [1]
