Alpha-Cor. • 8 yr. ago. If you are downloading them from another site, no. Have to do that yourself. If you get it from souncloud, it depends on the original file that the artist uploaded. I.e., they didnt name the file with artist info, only did on souncloud. Sorry but overall: No, dont think so.

youtube-dl seems to do the job kinda. I tried this: youtube-dl -f hls_mp3_128 --embed-thumbnail --add-metadata url. It even works with playlists. The thumbnails work fine but the meta data are iffy from song to song, so you might want to mess with --metadata-from-title. youtube-dl is probably the best you'll get. 2.

I guess that in this case is easier to use the Firefox add-on soundcloud downloader by NotToby. It downloads always the lossless format if you have the go+ subscription. For this, the song has to be uploaded in a lossless format, naturally. I'm just talking about soundcloud, of course. Yt-dlp and youtube-dl are great and deserve all the credit.
