TRUSTING LAUREL SPRINGS WITH MY SON'S EDUCATION WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. My son needed one course to graduate and was referred by Beverly Hills High School to complete the class at Laurel Springs. My son worked day and night, and the entire family monitored him closely.
However, the best insurance you have of credit acceptance is if the credit was earned at a school that is accredited by one of the major regional accreditation agencies. All of the schools I have mentioned (Laurel Springs, Keystone, Oak Meadow, American School) carry this accreditation, so you could transfer credit between any of these programs.
Posted February 3, 2013. I am considering them for my 14 year old. One of the teachers at the charter school we currently homeschool through knows quite a few of the teachers at Laurel Springs personally and has herself had her children there though that was several years ago. Her reports were quite positive but since LS is just up the road ...
Since you have asked about the two most expensive programs I am aware of, I'm assuming money isn't an issue. Unfortunately, we were not able to continue with OM due to the cost, as well as an inability to keep up with the work load. I have no experience with Laurel Springs, as the cost put them outside the realm of consideration.
AP French through Laurel Springs School uses Powerspeak. It covered all the necessary topics. There was enough teacher support. Occasionally we had problems with the system, little glitches with recording or whatever. Overall it was good preparation.
From the Reviews of Laurel Springs that I read, yesterday and today, some of them indicated (IMO) less Support from the Instructors and Staff of Laurel Springs, than what my DD gets from TTUISD (now TTU K12). And, less course material from them. TTUISD spends a LOT of time, when they develop a new course. I think a year or 2.
I am thinking of homeschool for highschool and outsourcing part of it or all of it. There are so many new options for online classes and online schools! Any reviews on Laurel Springs, Koble Online classes, Edx, Coursera or others? I appreciate any info.
Hi. Since this is my first post I feel I must just intoduce myself. I am Helen and we live in Johannesburg South Africa. I have 2 kids - ds 12 and dd 9. DS was diagnosed with numerous learning disabilities and SID 2.5 years ago. He has been at a remedial school for the last 18 months and has made...
They now offer a teacher-led format where the teacher acts like a one-on-one tutor. The other enticing thing for dd is that she can start this at anytime and complete on a self-paced basis. The price for both semesters is $472, but from what I've researched, that is not a bad price for a tutor type class. Laurel Springs & K12 charge around $900.
These are *my* parent reviews and my grades of the teacher/course, based on my kids' reports, my observations, and my general gut impressions. AP English Language & Comp with Maya Inspektor (last year, dd, 11th grade then) : A+++ Extremely well organized, inspiring, and very high quality assignments.
