Carolina Basset Hound Rescue (CBHR) is a volunteer-staffed non-profit organization whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome unwanted basset hounds in North Carolina and South Carolina. CBHR is a fully recognized 501(c)3 organization.
CBHR Bassets. All of our bassets are in search of loving, permanent homes. All CBHR dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and are heartworm negative or have been treated for heartworms before adoption.
Carolina Basset Hound Rescue adopts dogs only within the Carolinas. CBHR does not adopt bassets to be given as gifts. CBHR will only accept adoption applications from the family where the basset will reside.
More than 2500 stray, unwanted, neglected, and abandoned basset hounds have been rescued and rehomed over the past 25 years. CBHR is focused on eliminating needless euthanasia of basset hounds.
Fostering is a fun and rewarding experience; you get to watch a possibly scared, underweight, homeless hound blossom into a loving, affectionate, house pet that will become a treasured addition for any home. Knowing you helped a special hound find a home of his own is quite fulfilling.

My name’s Matilda – Tilly, for short – and I am one adorable basset hound puppy. I am also sweet and love to snuggle. I also am very good in the car – I rode for two hours to my foster home with no complaints. I was so excited to meet the other four-legged critters in the house.
