Luverne (/ l ə ˈ v ɜːr n / lə-VURN) [3] is a city in and the county seat of Rock County, Minnesota, United States, along the Rock River. The population was 4,946 at the 2020 census . [ 4 ] Luverne is part of the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) , home to more than 300,000 people.

Joseph "Joe" Roy Schomacker (born March 25, 1986) is an American politician serving in the Minnesota House of Representatives since 2011. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, Schomacker represents District 21A in the southwestern corner of the state, which includes the cities of Luverne and Pipestone and parts of Cottonwood, Lincoln, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, and Rock Counties.
Alan Cunningham McIntosh (October 7, 1905 – July 23, 1979) was editor of the Rock County Star-Herald of Luverne, Minnesota. He was president of the Minnesota Newspaper Association in 1949. He was president of the Minnesota Newspaper Association in 1949.
The first and largest community, Luverne, was established in 1867 and platted in 1872, a later start to settlement than most other parts of Minnesota. Rail lines were constructed in the 1870s and 80s, directly influencing the placement of most of the rest of Rock County's towns.
